Spilled Milk Shuts Down Highway

Highway 316 was the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on July 12. The accident caused the highway to be shut down for several hours as crews worked to clear the scene. The accident occurred just before 10 a.m.

According to reports, the accident involved a delivery truck, a semi-truck and at least two other vehicles. A hazmat team responded due to a fuel leak, and a news helicopter recorded workers clearing milk from the highway. The semi-truck involved in the accident had been hauling milk, and the box truck was on its way to Atlanta to pick up a load of desks from Georgia Tech.

The general manager of the company that owns the box truck reported that the truck was totaled but that the company was thankful that everyone was safe. The company that owns the milk tanker reported that no milk was impacted in the accident. Two people were transported to a local hospital to be treated.

The highway is no stranger to accidents. In June, eight vehicles were involved in a single accident. One person lost their life and 18 others sustained various injuries. The driver of a semi-truck was charged in the June accident. A local reporter said that people travel at high speeds on the highway and then approach Lawrenceville where there are traffic lights. This causes people, especially those that don’t know the area, to fail to slow and stop in time to avoid accidents.
