Michael Duponte

Of Counsel

Michael Duponte is a seasoned criminal defense attorney with over three decades of courtroom experience. A graduate of Providence College, Michael took a non-traditional path to the legal profession. After beginning his law studies at UCLA, he was drafted out of school and later pursued various professional experiences before returning to law. At the age of 47, he committed to completing his legal education, earning his law degree from Atlanta Law School in 1990.

Since then, Michael has built a reputation as a dedicated and fearless advocate for his clients. One of his most notable cases was a murder trial in Rabun County, Georgia, in 1993, where he and co-counsel Brian Steel successfully appealed a wrongful conviction based on a critical Giglio violation. Their efforts led to a retrial and the full acquittal of an innocent man—an experience that remains a career highlight.

With decades of trial experience, Michael thrives in the courtroom, bringing strategic insight, deep legal knowledge, and unwavering commitment to his defense work. His passion for justice and his ability to navigate complex legal challenges make him a formidable advocate for those facing serious charges.
