Hit-And-Run Takes Father Away from Family

An accident in DeKalb County on December 30 left a little boy without his father, and a hit-and-run driver is being sought for questioning. The accident involved a box truck and a motorcycle and happened just after 10:00 p.m.

According to reports, a man and his friend were riding down N Decatur Road on their way to a bar. The motorcyclist attempted to make a right turn onto Warren Avenue. It was at that moment that a Budget Rental box truck was turning right onto N Decatur Road and hit the motorcyclist. The man’s friend witnessed the entire accident.

According to police reports and the man’s friend, the impact of the collision caused the man to fall to the ground. The box truck didn’t stop. Instead, it ran over both the man and his motorcycle. The friend said he saw sparks coming from beneath the box truck as it pushed the bike along the ground. By the time emergency crews responded, the man on the bike had already passed away. The truck never stopped.

The victim in the accident is described as a friendly, outgoing man who was quick to make conversation, even with people he didn’t know. He leaves behind family and friends, including a 3-year-old son.
