Child Victim of Hit-and-Run

A small child was walking to school on October 18 when she was struck by a car. That car failed to stop after striking the child, and police are searching for the car and its driver. The little girl died as a result of her injuries.

According to reports, the 4-year-old was walking to school when a driver hit her and threw her into another vehicle. The injuries the girl sustained from the impact led to her untimely death. The incident occurred just prior to 7 a.m. on North Indian Creek Drive. The location where the child was struck was close to Indian Creek Elementary where she was a pre-kindergartner. The child is remembered as one who loved to sing.

The child was in a crosswalk with her mother and brother when she was hit by a vehicle described as dark in color. Witnesses say that the vehicle was possible an older model. Witnesses also say that the child went airborne after being struck and hit a nearby PT Cruiser. The mother and brother were uninjured in the incident.

Witnesses say that the sedan lost control for only a moment before fleeing the scene, which was almost immediately covered with first responders. At the time of reporting, police were asking any local body shops to be on the lookout for an older model sedan, possibly a Toyota, with front-end damage.
