Neighbors Want Safer Road

On July 15, 2017, a man died as the result of a car accident near the intersection of Browns Mill Road and Fairlane Drive in Atlanta. Residents in the area say they are fed up with the number of crashes and they want something done.

Suggestions to make the area safer include the addition of speed bumps, more signage and tree pruning. While no amount of improvements will bring back lives that have been lost, they could prevent more accidents from happening. People who live on what is considered to be a very dangerous curve say that there are accidents at least twice monthly.

One resident reports that vehicles have traveled into his yard and the yard of his neighbor. One vehicle ran into his mailbox and others have hit electric poles. In the latest accident, the man who lost his life had passed a car on the curve, entered into the wrong lane of traffic and hit another vehicle head on. The people in that vehicle were injured.

Atlanta police have not said how many fatalities have occurred in the area, and they are not releasing numbers as they pertain to wrecks. Residents say that there have been at least three fatalities in the last 17 years.
